Step 1 of 6

What best describes your home?

Different buildings need different crews, so this is the first thing a roofer asks.

No cost to you. Contractors pay us, you do not.

Full replacement, typical home$12,500 to $32,000Estimated installed range in Chino for a single-family roof.
Per square, architectural asphalt shingle$650 – $975One square is 100 square feet of roof surface.
Emergency tarp-over$400 – $1,200Stops the water tonight. It is not a repair.

These are estimated ranges, not quotes. Compiled from public installed-cost data for California and adjusted for how Chino is built. No contractor is bound by them, and nobody can price a roof they have not stood on.

What a roof looks like as a monthly payment

Straight amortisation on the amount and rate you type in. Nobody is offering you these terms, us least of all — this is the arithmetic so you can check whatever a lender or a contractor does offer.

Prefilled with the middle of the typical Chino replacement range. Change it to whatever you have been quoted.

Roofing paper commonly lands somewhere between about 7% and 18% depending on credit and on the programme. Put in the number you have actually been given.

The assumptions, in full

  • A fixed rate, equal payments, and interest compounded monthly. Nothing is deferred and nothing balloons at the end.
  • No down payment, no dealer or origination fee, no prepayment penalty, and no insurance product added on. Real roofing finance often carries a dealer fee, and it is usually already inside the price you were quoted.
  • Promotional "same as cash" and zero-interest offers work differently: the interest is typically owed retroactively if the balance is not clear by the deadline. This table does not model that.
  • The prefilled amount is the middle of the typical replacement range for Chino from public cost data. It is not a quote for your roof.

CoveringPer squareTypical whole roofExpected life
Architectural asphalt shingleThe default choice on most American homes, and usually the right one.$650 – $975$12,500 – $29,50025 to 30 years
3-tab asphalt shingleThe cheapest thing that still counts as a roof. Fewer and fewer crews will install it.$550 – $725$10,500 – $22,00015 to 20 years
Impact-rated asphalt shingleClass 4 rated. Often earns an insurance discount where hail is a factor.$850 – $1,300$16,000 – $39,00025 to 35 years
Concrete tileThe tile lasts far longer than the underlayment beneath it, which is the catch.$1,300 – $2,100$24,500 – $63,00040 to 60 years
Clay barrel tileOften salvaged and re-laid over new underlayment rather than replaced.$1,600 – $3,300$30,500 – $99,00050 to 80 years

What moves the number

  • How much decking turns out to be soft once the covering is stripped
  • Access — a truck that cannot get near the house adds hours to every load
  • How many old layers have to come off before the new one goes on
  • Warranty tier, which is really a question about who honours it in fifteen years
  • Where you land in the season; crews discount when the phone is quiet

Common repairs

Emergency tarp-over$400 – $1,200
Small leak, flashing or a few shingles$475 – $1,300
Valley, chimney or skylight reflash$950 – $3,100
Section replacement, one slope$1,500 – $5,300

A word on the method. National installed ranges, adjusted for California labour and material costs and for how Chino is actually built. They are a sanity check on the quotes you receive, nothing more. No contractor is bound by them.

Extras that turn up on quotes

ItemTypical rangeNotes
Roof inspectionFree – $500Frequently free when it is tied to an estimate. Paid inspections buy you a written report you can hold somebody to.
Tear-off, per layer per square$156 – $291Two old layers costs roughly twice what one does to remove and tip.
Seamless aluminium gutter, per foot$13 – $27Most homes run 160 to 220 feet.
Ridge and intake ventilation upgrade$634 – $2,514The cheapest thing you can do to make the next roof last its full life.
Tile lift-and-relay, per square$667 – $1,317Existing tile comes off, new underlayment goes down, the same tile goes back.
Skylight replacement, each$1,243 – $3,546Cheaper done during a re-roof than on its own afterwards.

Cost questions

Are you a roofing company?

No. Chino Ridgeline Roofing is a free matching service. We do not hold a roofing licence, we do not employ crews, and we never come to your house. We pass your request to independent local contractors who do the work and who you hire directly.

It is leaking right now. What do I do?

Move what you can out of the way, put a bucket under it, and if there is a bulge in the ceiling put a small hole at its lowest point to let the water out in one place rather than bringing the whole panel down. Then mark your request as an emergency — those go out first.

How long does a re-roof take?

Two days is typical for asphalt. Add days for steep pitch, multiple layers to strip, tile work, or a roof with a lot of valleys and penetrations.

Do you handle commercial buildings?

Yes. Commercial requests go to contractors who do low-slope and flat systems rather than to residential crews. Say so on the property question and it routes correctly.

I have solar panels. What happens to them?

Panels have to be detached and reset. Budget for it separately and coordinate the two trades. Never put a new solar array on a roof with under ten years left.
